New ways to find videos in Facebook Watch

Facebook Watch has become the go-to for discovering videos across the Facebook network like live events, music videos etc. and with an increase in monthly viewers, Facebook’s focus is on improving the Watch experience and one of their first steps is launching Topics.

Topics in Facebook Watch.

If you’re interested in cooking, hip hop or nature, finding interesting Watch videos should be effortless. You can now follow Topics in addition to Pages and Profiles. With Topics, you can personalise your experience by choosing the theme/topic of videos to display in your feed. Some of these topics include but not limited to Crafts, Comedy, Dance and Beauty.

Topics are currently available in the US and it can also aid you in finding new Pages to follow. The topics you’ve selected are only visible to you and not your friends. You also have the ability to add or remove topics at any time.

Facebook claims that they have over 1.25 billion people visiting Watch every month. I’m sure we’ll see more updates to Facebook Watch in the coming months as they continue to build out this functionality but it’s safe to say that they are no threat to YouTube in the immediate future.
